About this library
Did you know?
The Aitkin Public Library became a branch of East Central Regional Library in 1964. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on November 12, 1993 at their current location for the construction of a new facility. Exactly one year later, on November 12, 1994 the new Aitkin library building opened to the public.
The original Aitkin Public Library building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
The original library building is a Carnegie Library (a library built with money donated by Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in the early 20th century.)
