Job description summary:  Responsible for assisting the Library Executive Director in the planning, organization, supervision, development and administration of all library services, personnel, operations and programs. Assumes the duties of the Library Executive Director in his/her absence. The position requires in-depth knowledge of library policies, methods and procedures; the knowledge and ability to lead, inspire, supervise, and evaluate staff; expertise and experience in library technology; the ability to develop and maintain records and prepare reports; the ability to speak in public and to interpret library policies, procedures and resources to others; the ability to work courteously and effectively with other employees and the public; the ability to be tactful and adept in working with a wide variety of people.

Technical Services Assistant II, ECRL Headquarters, Cambridge, 40 hrs/week:  A high school diploma or GED plus 2 years of formal education beyond high school, 2 years job-related experience, and up to date technology skills are required. Job description summary:  The Technical Services Assistant II oversees normal day-to-day operations of the cataloging and processing areas of Technical Services.  The Technical Services Assistant II is responsible for creation and maintenance of the machine-readable bibliographic database of all items held in the ECRL branches and their locations.  The Technical Services Assistant II ensures that sufficient access points are provided to find items in the ECRL online catalog and that records are deleted for items that are no longer available.  The Technical Services Assistant II uses a variety of software applications, including the ECRL ILS, OCLC tools, Library of Congress, and other database sources for MARC records.
