The 2018 program is complete. Come back for the 2019 program!
East Central Regional Library is celebrating our 2018 Summer Reading Program – Reading Takes You Everywhere. This year’s program runs from Tuesday, May 29 through Saturday, August 4. The Summer Reading Program is free and open to the public. Each East Central Regional Library branch will offer both a youth (ages 3-11) and teen (ages 12-17) program. East Central Regional Library Outreach will offer a youth program for ages 3-11.
Kids ages 3-11 may pick up a starter kit at any East Central Regional Library branch or Outreach stop starting Tuesday, May 29. Keep track of the hours read/listened to. Participants will receive a prize for every 5 hours read up to 20 hours.
Teens ages 12-17 may pick up a starter kit at any East Central Regional Library branch starting Tuesday, May 29. Then fill out a review for each book read/listened to and enter a drawing for a grand prize. Drop off reviews at your local East Central Regional Library location or fill out the online entry form for your chance to enter and win.
Rubber Ducky Program
Several East Central Regional Library branches will also sponsor a Rubber Ducky program for ages 0-35 months. Check with your local East Central Regional Library branch to see if they will be offering the program and if so, for details on dates and program guidelines.
A variety of other free programs and activities (i.e. Lego Club, preschool storytime, STEM activities, family events, weekly passive programs, etc.) will also be offered at each of our branch libraries. Stop by your local East Central Regional Library branch to find out what your branch is offering or check our events calendar. Events will be added daily to the calendar as they are finalized, so check back often.
The benefits of summer reading are clear. Students who participate in public library summer reading programs scored higher on reading achievement tests at the beginning of the next school year than those who did not participate.
