On the Eastern Front

Listeners!  Teens! Heads up!  AudiobookSYNC 2017 is almost over.  Don’t miss it—only two weeks left. This week’s titles take a journey back to World War II’s Eastern Front where a teen novel and a memoir reveal lesser known stories of young women involved in the war.
Between Shades of Gray, by Ruta Sepetys, takes us to Lithuania and into the wartime life of 15-year-old Lina, who has been deported with her mother and brother to Siberia. Imprisoned there, uncertain of her own fate and the fates of her loved ones, Lina paints and draws in an effort to maintain her own humanity.

Irene Gut Opdyke and Jennifer Armstrong detail Opdyke’s experiences when she was a 17-year-old German Catholic pressed into service by the Nazis. In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer recounts how she turned the situation into an opportunity to save Jewish prisoners starving in the ghetto.
Available for a Limited Time
Remember — grab these titles before they are replaced by the last 2017 pairing on 08/10/2017!
