SYNC Week 6

Continue celebrating Audiobook Month with 2 new SYNC titles!
This week, our pair of teen audiobooks asks that we consider how our understanding of a story from the narrator’s point of view must expand when the story comes from two different narrators with two different viewpoints of their shared world.

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

The Printz Medal wiI'll give you the sunnner and Stonewall Honor by Jandy Nelson examines the love and heartbreak that only twins can share.
Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them.
But three years later, at sixteen, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways…until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life.
The early years are Noah’s story to tell. The later years are Jude’s. What the twins don’t realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to each other, they’d have a chance to remake their world.

Zac & Mia by A.J. Betts

When I was little I believed in Jesus and Santa, spontaneous combustion, and the Loch Ness monster. Now I believe in sciezac and miance, statistics, and antibiotics.
So says seventeen-year-old Zac Meier during a long, grueling leukemia treatment in Perth, Australia. A loud blast of Lady Gaga alerts him to the presence of Mia, the angry not-at-all-stoic cancer patient in the room next door.
Once released, the two near-strangers can’t forget each other, even as they desperately try to resume normal lives.
Light and dark, cheerful and angry, this week’s free audiobooks take us along on character journeys in which each story has two sides.
