Creating Music with Computers at Chisago Lakes Library

East Central Regional Library invites students of all grade levels and adults to an entertaining performance starring George Maurer and his presentation, Creating Music with Computers, at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5 at the Chisago Lakes Area Library in Chisago City.

Maurer is a performer, composer and producer, and he has toured the country to illustrate the impact on music in today’s culture while using today’s technology to enhance appreciation for the arts. Using his keyboard, microphone, and visual display, he shows how music is composed using computers and digital technology for albums, movie soundtracks, television shows, video games, and more.

Spotlight on music at 21st Annual Aitkin Christmas Tea

Warm your winter heart with songs by pianist George Maurer and vocalist Rachel Holder at this year’s Christmas Tea event at the Aitkin Public Library.

The duo will be performing live at the 21st Annual Aitkin Christmas Tea, beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. Presented by the Aitkin Public Library branch of the East Central Regional Library, in partnership with the Friends of the Aitkin Library, the event is free and open to the public. Space is limited. Maurer and Holder are entertainers with a sensitivity and expressiveness far beyond their years, filling rooms from the Dakota Jazz Club to Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. They offer a warm, personable stage presence, with songs from Gershwin to Motown, Ellington to Eva Cassidy, the Great American Songbook to the Beatles and music of the holidays.
