Laura MacKenzie will be performing traditional Scottish and Scots Gaelic music from the Outlander series starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Chisago Lakes Area Library.
The elaborately composed soundtrack of the television series incorporates a number of Scottish songs and dance tunes, and the books themselves refer to even more. MacKenzie delivers a program of Outlander’s traditional music, from both the Highlands and the Lowlands of Scotland, on an array of instruments like wooden flutes, whistles, concertina, Scottish smallpipes, Border bagpipes and voice.
The community is welcome to free, holiday performances featuring traditional Irish and Scottish music beginning this weekend at select branches. Laura MacKenzie brings her Celtic holiday program, a celebration of Yuletide favorites, many with Celtic origins, presented on a unique array of wind-powered instruments like wooden flutes, whistles, concertina, various types of bagpipes, gemshorn and voice.
The following performances are presented by East Central Regional Library:
- Saturday, Dec. 1, McGregor Public Library, 10:30 am
- Monday, Dec. 3, Cambridge Public Library, 6:30 pm
