Gavin’s play on the Irish flute and uilleann pipes—the national bagpipe of Ireland—reflect his lifelong love for Irish traditional music. Originally from Detroit, he was first encouraged to take up Irish music by his Irish-born father. Gavin went on to win the Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal in 2016 for his flute playing.
