The Civil War Experience

Learn something new about “The War Between the States” through a truly unique presentation.
People of all ages are welcomed to The Civil War Experience: Minnesota and the Civil War with Arn Kind at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at East Central Regional Library Princeton. Kind is a member of the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, a reenactment group based out of Fort Snelling that has appeared in many documentaries and historical feature films, such as  “The Blue and the Gray,” “North and South,” and “Glory.”

Artifacts, uniforms and equipment play a key role in Kind’s presentation. Learn about the causes of the Civil War, events leading up to the war, the reasons men volunteered to go off and fight, and the daily life of a typical soldier. He talks about Civil War drill and tactics, including facings and marching, Manual of Arms, loading and firing procedures during battle, and the terrible cost of this tragic war.
This program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
The Princeton Area Library is located at 100 S. 4th Ave., Princeton, and can be reached at 763-389-3753. Keep informed of all East Central Regional Library events by visiting the events calendar or following us on Facebook.
